Growing Knowledge and Followers: Meet Somnia’s Head of Growth Adele

Meet Adele, the Head of Growth that has helped push Somnia into the stratosphere! She loves to learn new things and was even a math tutor before she jumped into marketing. In this interview she shares some details about her background with the community, and talks a bit about how things work behind the scenes, and what she does in her free time.

Tell us a bit about yourself and your background.

I’ve been in marketing now for almost a decade and it’s been nothing short of fun! Dipping my toes in the umbrella of what is called digital marketing. I started out doing loads of freelance work in social media for traditional verticals, then to website development, SEO, and performance. When I’m not “marketing’ something, I’m quite honestly just delving into simple things like reading. Damn now that I think about it I’m so boring. But I try to be in the present with what I’m doing, just being so much of my time is working behind the laptop or replying to the million telegram messages.

What got you interested in blockchain technology?

My journey in blockchain was a little different. I serviced a few crypto clients at a marketing agency and realised that no conventional marketing strategy worked. So I decided that the only way to truly understand how marketing in web3 works is to immerse myself in it.

What are your favorite things about the crypto space?

It’s very exciting and the customers are much more fun and laid back than other industries.

What are some of your least favorite things about the space?

There are a lot of scams and it can be hard to figure out which projects can be trusted and which ones can’t. This can also make it difficult when marketing projects because people are understandably skeptical about everything in the space. This also makes it hard for people on the outside to see the things that are good about the industry.

Do you have a favorite video game? If not, music or movies will work.

I like shows that help me escape reality for a while. The absolutely no-brainer type. But I did recently watch Ready Player One and absolutely loved it!

What excites you most about what you’re building at Somnia?

Seeing a growing community that’s super interesting and just being a part of that is very exciting! We are building some very cool things and it’s exciting to see everyone experimenting in the metaverse!

What advice would you give to people getting started in the industry?

Learn as much as you can! It’s a new space and it’s a great opportunity to learn some skills that will be very important and useful as this technology becomes more popular.

What has the biggest challenge been so far?

I like how the industry is global, but that also means that scheduling can be a mess because everyone is in different timezones. This leads to a ton of late night and early morning calls, which can make it hard to catch up on sleep.

What do you do for fun outside of work?

Reading fiction books.
